Week of February 28, 2010 - Second Sunday in Lent

Announcements

OPERATION RICE BOWL:
Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program, will again be part of our Lenten almsgiving this year. The Rice Bowls will be available on Ash Wednesday. Also available are copies of The Word Among Us, a daily Lenten reflection guide.

LITURGICAL MINISTERS: The March schedule is now available, which includes Passion (Palm) Sunday. Sign-up for Holy Week will be available next week in the work sacristy.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS, Fridays during Lent (7:00 P.M., church), require many readers. A sign-up sheet is available in the work sacristy for you to take an active part in one or more of these Lenten devotions. Informational materials will be given ahead of the scheduled dates.

Passover Seder, Sunday, March 28 5:30 P.M., Jaeger Hall,$10 per person; reservation deadline is March 15. RSVP to Betty Lucero at ext. 2709. In the Jewish tradition, the story of Passover is retold through the readings of the Haggadah at family gatherings and lavish meals called Seders. The Seder is the focal point of the Passover celebration with its special foods, songs and customs. The menu includes matza (unleavened bread), wine (and grape juice), green vegetable (parsley), bitter herbs, lamb (and orzo), and haroset (a fruit salad). Help is needed with food preparation, set-up and cleanup.

SENIOR LUNCH BUNCH: Mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 3rd for 11:40 A.M. rosary, noon Mass and potluck lunch after Mass. Bring a main or side dish to share; drinks and dessert will be provided. Please call the parish office by Tuesday, March 2nd to reserve your spot.

The All Souls BOOK CLUB meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 9:00 A.M. in the RE office. The book for the March 9 meeting is Advise and Consent, by Allen Drury. This is an epic and classic tale of the legislative and executive branches of government colliding on different paths, both seeking what’s best for the country … and themselves.

The
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS will offer a FISH FRY on Fridays (5:00-7:00 P.M., school cafeteria) during Lent before the Stations of the Cross. The cost will be $7 for seniors, $8 for those 12 and up, $5 for children under 12, or $25 for a family.
